“Reef and Hala Tree”

This oil painting depicts a tranquil, peaceful place right off the road that goes around the windward side of the island of Oahu, Hawaii (Hauula). Though we used our "artist's license and removed some debris from the ground, it is pretty much the scene you will find if you went there. We did enlarge the boulder in the foreground, so as to make an inviting place to sit down and enjoy the view. With the partial shade of the Hala (pandanus) tree from which to take in the bright, sunlit beach and reef, it is a colorful but still restful place. The beach and waters here are perfect for easy swimming, only small waves can get by the offshore reef. There must be all kinds of interesting things to see amongst the reef in this clear water.
