Bill
Braden's Work - Public Commissions and Displays
(Page 1 of 5)
Leilei’s:
57-091 Kamehameha Hwy., Kahuku
Located next to
the Turtle Bay Resort Golf Club House, Leilei’s Bar and Restaurant
is the artist’s favorite showplace. The lease arrangement for
his artwork allows him to sell and replace work on the walls.
Even though there
are no prices or sales information posted, he regularly gets inquiries
for painting commissions. Is this due to the conducive atmosphere of
gazing at artwork while eating good food, near the golf course?

Waikiki
Banyan: 201
Ohua Avenue, Waikiki
Commissioned by
the owners association and specified by the designers, the 5’
by 20’, 5’ by 15’ and 5’ by 5’ oil on
canvases that decorate the open lobby and are part of the retro renovation
concept to bring back the elegance of old Waikiki. The 20’ canvas
depicts Royal Helumoa Coconut Grove based on state archive photo from
1870. The painting consists of 10,000 coconut trees!

The 15’ canvas
shows the Koolau Pali with imagainary waterfalls (right); it
is located next to a decorative waterfall feature in the lobby. The
5’ painting of Paokalani, Queen Liliuokalani’s Waikiki summer
residence (above), is to commemorate the Waikiki Banyan site
where the depicted structure once stood.
